Hmmm

How/Why are u chronically losing gaffs?

Still don't understand what u may use that for in this area.

The whole purpose of a Kage is to immoblize your target before you drag it on board, so you must aim for the brain/spine. The tip must be sharp and thick enough to pierce through dense bone without bending.
* A threaded rod is a perfect thing for bacteria to grow on. You don't want to place a dirty rod into an animal that you plan on eating. Any medical professional can give you countless horror stories about that one.
* You also have to strike with a lot more force in order to cover the same distance as a non threaded rod.
We have all heard stories about men being dragged to their sea grave by a huge pissed off sea creature, So please don't secure the Kage to your arm.
