Thank you! HOW, Matt, Mike, Mike, OEX, Andy, Brent, Makobob and all the wonderful sponsors, for helping put these events together. Our vets are very lucky that there are people and organizations, businesses, individuals, that step up big time to help our veterans, HEAL and have some fun. I'm glad that this event was such a success, and it's fitting for you guys that spent so much time and effort organizing this event.
Thank you guys for setting me up with that new gaff. I don't know who's idea it was...but I have a good feeling I know who it is...;) it's awesome and I will definitely put it to good use, getting more fish for the HOW events. Oh and the busy bee gift certificates....Oh boy!!! |
Steveooo, Campland will have to be on next year's agenda fo sho!:D

Just to clarify: Jeff B wrapped the rod that Chuck D won in the halibut division, then won the rod that Len wrapped for the bass division. Jeff also won the big bass award. That was a weekend rental of the OEX Sunset Beach PA 17 including trailer, fish finder and livewell. Ron and Ben Tweedt were fishing from this PA17.

Andy, what kind of drone are you using here?

Chris, it is the Blade 350 QX2, bought it used from a Hobby shop on E Bay. Got it for $300 complete and the Hero 2 for $80 (thanks to Ashmoz bought 2 for $160)
I set it for taking stills every 5 sec. The Phantom is supposedly much steadier for filming video, but this is pretty cool for low buck aerial shots and pretty easy to fly. |

Final total after taking out costs and there were very little thanks to all the generosity, the fish from Catalina Offshore and Coca Cola from Jorge to all companies that donated prizes for the winners and the raffle. We raised $5431. Eric had told me that he would match this number and must have had great confidence in us as he brought the check from Geo Group with him and added it to our total for the day $10,431. This will be a hard number to beat next year :D Thank you one and all! |
Wow!! What a great turn-out. I wish I could have made it. There were some terrific people that donated and helped organized. I gotta make it to this event next year.
|
Wow !10g's !!!!! Great cause and awesome turnout I could care less about my 13th place turnout
|
Dang... a gopro capable drone for 300! Good deal I'm gonna check that out.
I have a Hubsan X4 that I practice with, but the camera is junk and its super shaky. It's good for stunts and terrorizing my neighbors though. Have you seen the mariner quadcopter? Fully submersible... I want it so bad. Check out this video the guy straight flips it and makes it go fully submerged. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/YnrmuntLygE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Quote:
