Ahhh the original BWE was formed because the site owned by Mission Bay Watersports was censoring post content, (help me with the name?) was started by Greg Knabb, Corey Wyrick and Al Salibi. there was Spike's board, Jim's board, Jason's board, and Baytubers, all were those scrolling simple style ones, every body hosted photos on whatever Photo bucket was called...help me out here. I think this was right around the year 2000

Thank you for maintaining the site. Lots of nostalgia here -- historical accomplishments and great memories! The annoying adds serve a good purpose. Perhaps Baytubers should do the same. https://www.baytubers.com/index.php |
Also kayak fishing addicts...
I posted alot there before BWE.
I believe Sonny was the moderator. It came to an end I heard Sonny moved to Hawaii but I could be wrong. |
I just saw this.
I agree with all the thanks from the above posts. I always felt welcomed to the shop and given help and reasonable prices. Wishing all the best to everyone that made this site possible. I hope it continues. With my deepest regards, Hashem AKA Mahigeer |
Thanks for the kayak!

Andy & Brent,
Thanks for everything you guys did to introduce me and many others to this incredible sport. And thanks Adi for keeping this site alive, so many great memories and fishing accomplishments to celebrate on this site. :kayak-surfer: :arne1: |
Bitter sweet. End of an irreplaceable era for sure, but I know you guys are stoked for your next chapters in life.
Andy, I?m blessed with the time we spent together on the water, the other misc adventures we had, and many great conversations. I?m very thankful for you brother. I was a lost kid in my 20?s when I got into this, and kayak fishing kept me grounded and out of trouble (for the most part). You had a big part in that, and were a great example of what a stand up guy looks like. There are a lot of guys that ended up fishing from Tupperware that owe a lot to you. Best to all of you. Thanks for keeping it rolling. |
Andy and Brent, thanks for the ride and memories! Those times were filled with such excitement and fun....just figuring out this "kayak fishing" thing....making things for our yaks that didn't exist in a store like "Rod Leashes" made from TELEPHONE HANDSET CORDS (when we still had land lines in the house and we could go to the store and buy a replacement telephone cord), CRIMPS, AND CARABINERS!!!! LOL
The arguments about WADERS!!!!! :luxhello: The "how to's" like gluing a transponder to the bottom of your yak!!! bahahahahaaa You guys down in SD always made me feel welcome when I came down to fish the "pond"... one of the invading L.A. guys at the time...LOL Hey...you forgot about the website KayakFishingSport and the arguments with Jas' KayakSportFishing site....LOL I still have my two REAL Kayaks (with paddles) in my backyard...my son asks when we'll go out in them...one day again.... Memories.... |
OEX
Many thanks for everything that OEX did for this community and me specifically. I learned so much over the years it's hard to adequately express my thanks and agree with everything that has been said above....
Lit-up1 :cheers1: |
OEX
Brent & Andy,
I wish you both well. You both have been instrumental to the Kayak fishing community. Many fond memories. God Speed |
Whoa-
Andy/Brent OEX:you_rock: Thank you guys for all you have done for kayak fishing and Adi for keeping this BWE board alive:cheers1: Great memories, especially the mother ship trips. The banter and bs was over the top here. It was an honor knowing and fishing with the best of the best The years went by fast!! Ha, I remember the gripper Mike wars?:D Even though I no longer fish from a kayak it was fun being one of the OG Get Bent:the_finger: God Speed and God Bless |
Just heard the sad news
I have been taking a break from kayak fishing for the past four years. First the knees had to be replaced. When I was heathy enough to get back on the water the fish disappeared. Last year I had back surgery and am now fully recovered. Just as I planned to restart my yak fishing hobby, I get the news that some of the legends of our sport at OEX are calling it a day. Bummer.
I look forward to fishing LJ soon. Hopefully I will run into some of my old friends again along the way. Olivenhain Bob |
