We used to tow one of the boats down to Ft. Lauderdale for a couple of months. Shooters and Bootleggers were regular hangouts. The pics are NSFW.;) |
I had no idea so many people owned boats first.
Nice pics guys with some beautiful boats and quality fish. So here's a few pics of mine: Like I said the boat was 14ft, and it leaked whne I got it :D Initially I just started to repair it, but fuel prices rose and got this idea of making it an economical alternative to big boat fishing, so I did a few modifications to the skiff, so I could fish further offshore. http://www.bloodydecks.com/gallery/f...nstruction.jpg Works great.... Caught some T sharks with it... http://www.bloodydecks.com/gallery/f.../0/Tshark2.JPG http://www.bloodydecks.com/gallery/f.../0/tshark6.JPG http://www.bloodydecks.com/gallery/f.../0/tshark3.JPG Some Tuna Offshore http://www.bloodydecks.com/gallery/f.../3/0/2tuna.JPG http://www.bloodydecks.com/gallery/f.../0/skifYFT.JPG http://www.allcoast.com/photos/data/...unadog4240.JPG Local (LA) Yellows http://www.allcoast.com/photos/data/...yellow2296.JPG http://www.allcoast.com/photos/data/...yeller2295.JPG Lots of bugs http://www.bloodydecks.com/gallery/files/4/3/0/bug1.JPG http://www.bloodydecks.com/gallery/f...3/0/bigbug.JPG http://www.bloodydecks.com/gallery/files/4/3/0/bug4.JPG http://www.bloodydecks.com/gallery/files/4/3/0/bug3.JPG One thing I've not caught on it is a local billfish. Seven knockdowns but no Marlin to the skiff yet. Still have it but hardly fish it these days. Too much kayaking :D Cool stuff, very interesting to see everyone's rides. Jim |
9'8" Harbor Banana. I sold my x-factor and x-treme and went back to the board. KISS

Once after a big fabrication job the client asked me what I'd do for time off, after I got paid. I just laughed and said now I get to build my stuff.... :D Jim |
I'm pretty envious of all yall's boats! I started out with a Caddis float tube and a pair of waders, I actually still have it, and use it when I sneak into ponds and creeks on 'ninja' fishing missions. I even caught my largest double digit bass out of it at Lake Murray with it!

It lie waiting for liberation near the San Elijo lagoon for god knows how many years chained to a tree and half buried under years of leaves, until my friend Gregg and I came along with bolt cutters. Someone had actually made outrigger for it by cutting an old Hansen 10’ long board right down the stringer and used some bamboo to secure it. <O:p We took off the outrigger and headed out to the paddys off of the San Elijo camp grounds; it was then we realized why the outriggers were made. That thing was the most unseaworthy vessel ive ever sat in. Flipped and sunk it more times than I care to remeber. But for kids it was a blast, we used to spear fish and dive off of it. One guy would have to lean over the opposite rail while the other was getting in; or she’d flip ya right quick.<O:p <O:p I sold it for a song, wished I still had it and that old Hansen (worth 2k easily)! I never gave my buddy his share of the sale either, damn me! looked like this....even had a little transom<O:p |
Sport Boats and float tubes for me. Got into the tubes when I was a deckhand and got sick of fishing for cuda and other non-bass fishes. Once I discovered spotties I rarely fished the boats.

Have not posted pix on BWE before. Where's the how-to? |
Cool boats guys!
I like many here, was drawn to the water, both fresh and salt, from calm river rafting: http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...g?t=1299090932 To something a bit more adventurous: http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...g?t=1299090932 But for me, it all started with SCUBA diving. Here is my favorite taco meat: http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...g?t=1299090932 |

Not a ton of change on the exterior. Added the electronics box in the t-top, masthead and spreader lights fore & aft on the t-top http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...cture_0051.jpg http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...icture_006.jpg http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...cture_0071.jpg Moved VHF up top, added tunes and all fuses & controls for "upper" power are now in electronics box http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...cture_0084.jpg Added second battery & bus bar in center console http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...cture_0083.jpg http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...icture_010.jpg And the needed switch for the batteries http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...cture_0111.jpg All the wiring has been replaced with tinned copper. All connections sealed with heat shrink butt end splices with extra adhesive lined heat shrink over the top. Still some wire/cable management to address. Have about a grand in supplies alone on the rewire & upgrade, countless hours. Sadly I may have to sell her as we put an offer in on a house that does not have room to park her. Have to do what's best for the kids' education |

It's a shame to see so many of my friends selling thier boats these days. Norm my buddy that gave us a ride to SBI just sold his Maycraft 23 CC. Here you can see it behind Andy: http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/9092/andyslay.jpg Great boat, we caught a lot of fish off it. I'm not even going to tell you what he sold it for, it makes me ill, I should of just bought it myself, but I don't have room for it. Have you considered doing some mothership trips with your skiff. That boat could take a few yaks and then babysiit them at Catalina No problem. Jim |
