Corvina 03-27-2017 07:31 PM

I am waiting to find out if we have a rugby game on Saturday 8th April and if not I am in....

Sivak 03-28-2017 07:52 AM

Hashem, I won't be at camp until Wednesday only if Corivna can go. He was going to and be my wingman... As soon as he is good to go, we are in.

Bob, we will meet you in the AM if Corvina can go.

Mahigeer 03-28-2017 08:57 AM

No problem and hope you both can make it.

I guess since we are crossing the border on Sunday, it will be a good testament to the benefit of having a Sentri Pass.

WEATHER

Conditions appear to be good. Day temps in the mid 80's, nights low to mid 60's and winds mostly below 10 mph. Nice spring weather, now if the fish will cooperate it should be a great trip.

Heard a rumor about a bunch of roosterfish caught and killed in a gill net in the Gonzaga area. Hoping to get more info about this on our trip. Tight Lines.

MrPukaShell 03-29-2017 08:03 AM

Hashem,
I have someone coming with me so we will cover a dinner at the restaurant for Saturday night or whatever night is needed just let me know.

makobob 03-29-2017 08:23 AM

Gents

OK Me (Sivak) and Brian (Corvina) are 100% in. Due to work schedules, we are meeting everyone at Johnny's @ O dark early and will now leave Thursday after we fish the high tides so probably around 2:00pm. Sorry for the change up but its what we can do now. Anyway can we adjust dinner? If not, we can leave money for you guys to go to dinner at the restaurant.

I am sure we can figure something out, see you at Johnny's.

Mahigeer 03-29-2017 01:44 PM

Good news Sivak and Corvina. I could use some good jokes by Corvina.

Good deal Robert.

Mr. Mako, just let me know what needs to be done.

Side note:
Today I was able to replace the rear shocks on the 4Runner after several attempts in the past.

One of the hardest jobs that I had to do as a licensed mechanic working on cars for many years. Maybe my memory is failing me.

Next is oil and filter change and transmission service. Cooling system may need a flush too.

Then loading the 4Runner and leaving on Saturday at 9:00 PM for Pechanga to spend some time before the 5:00 AM meeting at the Shell.

My wife will be making delicious Persian salad and I will be picking up Persian food on Thursday.

The right knee is feeling ok too for pedal workout.

A long report to be posted here for those who cannot make it this time.

Glad the maintenance is going good, and I would expect a very long report after this trip. I will have the Gregor with 20 hp on a trailer and the NEW SOLO SKIFF for you guy's to test out and I anticipate lots of fish pictures too. So WE will keep you busy Arkadash.

Mahigeer 03-29-2017 02:08 PM

I am really looking forward to this trip, since I cannot make the October one.

That one is too close to my next fly fishing in Fernie, Canada trip.

Then again one never know about these events and what life decides to throw at one.

Sivak 03-29-2017 02:18 PM

Hashem, you can't miss the October trip. Fly fishing in .ca can not be as fun, plus we need more Persian food!

Don't worry, the comedian Brian always has some good jokes in his holsters.

Mahigeer 03-29-2017 04:50 PM

Looking forward to Brian's joke sessions. Does he have the Sentri Pass?

As to Canada, the reservations have been made and train ticket bought.

If you had a chance to read my last year’s trip, you may remember it did not turn out to be %100 the way I wanted.

This time it is at a world class river called Elk Valley, which runs through a town called Fernie in British Columbia, Canada

Having the experience of the "road" this time, I am hoping to have a much better trip.

If Serop has a SENTRI pass then it looks like this will be the FIRST ALL SENTRI trip to paradise. Remember your sun block AND bug spray, lot's of rain means ton's of bugs. Tight Lines.

MrPukaShell 03-30-2017 07:12 AM

He does not which is a bummer for me. He did apply but not soon enough, so wave as you drive by in the short line. We will be able to show the difference in the write up.

Yes he has Global Entry...

Mahigeer 03-30-2017 08:02 AM

@ Robert;
So he is in line for one. That is great news for his next trip. Which I am sure he would like to do.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
As for dinner we can decide in camp.

Depending on what time we get to Makoland and what time it is after I setup my camp (tent, cot, etc.), I may be able to serve the Persian dinner at camp.

It would require some preparation, but that way it will as fresh as possible.

I vote, MAKE IT FRESH, make it fresh, there will be time. We can eat when ever YOU are ready.

farreola 03-30-2017 09:19 AM

Being a local here in the Calexico border, we usually drop off the person who doesn't have the sentri pass right before you cross and they go through the pedestrian lane. It usually is a 10-15 min wait time. Then we just pick them up on the other side of the border. I know it is not the best scenario, but beats having to wait in a three hour back up. These coming weeks folks will be on spring break, so long backups. You can always check Border wait time at (760) 768-2383 or download the BWT app on your phone. If you you go through the east port there is no wait time on the pedestrian crossing, but you do have to walk around 1/4 mile to the gas station across the border. There are no parking signs on the road between the border crossing and the gas station. Do not stop and pick anyone up in that area. It can be a $250 mistake, speaking from experience. I'm informing you about the east port because during this time there is a long backup in the pedestrian line at the west port. Have a safe and fun trip and save some fish for when I go.

Sivak 03-30-2017 09:36 AM

Chicken mole Sunday night at the restaurant.

Bob, I just picked up your table saw and will bring with me.

Building my support pipe rack for my tracrac...

Robert, I think your the nicest guy in the world now that you have a non global entry passenger.

This trip should be a blast!

Must be my "Aloha" spirit just got back from a two week stay in Hawaii. He may not think so when I dump him off and have him cross on foot. Kind of like that idea.

Does Aloha mean HELLO and Good Riddence?

MrPukaShell 03-30-2017 11:01 AM

It just might

Mahigeer 03-30-2017 12:55 PM

Very nice of farreola to post a great tip.

As Robert being a nice guy, it is well kept secret.

I hope the wind cooperates.

Would not mind to test drive the Solo, and maybe an island trip.

Good times here we come.

Arkadash YOU will not be taking MY SOLO to the island, but the Gregor is good to go and holds three anglers. So the island IS within your reach. We may have a day or two of wind, but we can always hunker down and play games, like have a paint party. Tight Lines guy's.

Mahigeer 03-30-2017 09:15 PM

Some pictures from the past trips to make the anticipation more exiting.

INM - FMM

Hey amigos

Don't forget to fill out your online FMM just incase they ask us for them at the border. If you fill it out and print now, it will save you the FMM fee which i think is around $25-$30 now and they will just stamp this printed out FMM and your good to go for 7 days.

https://www.inm.gob.mx/fmme/publico/en/solicitud.html

For consistency, here is how I filled mine out. You guys will need to modify your depart dates.

defjack 03-31-2017 11:12 AM

Got mine stamped at tj wanted to use the sentri only 1 person in the sentri line. The last 2 times had to stand in line for 2. hours.

YES SENTRI is great wish I had done it YEARS ago, thanks guy's for lighting a fire under me to get one. Life is simpler with it. Tight Lines.

MrPukaShell 03-31-2017 01:16 PM

I still have one but if you are coming in to Mexico don't you have to stop to get it stamped? Only the one for 7 days or less is free from my understanding but it still needs to be stamped at the border.

YES you go thru checkpoint and it is on your left. Quick and easy stop. We will be stopping there.

Not sure if I understand your post but if you have purchased a 180 day FMM and it was stamped on a previous trip, you do not need it stamped again if it is still valid. Having it stamped is for folks that purchase the FMM online and then must have it stamped on the first entry to Mexico.

TRUE THAT

Mahigeer 03-31-2017 09:59 PM

I have mine, but it is almost impossible to read the stamp and the date. I will have to stop and see what they say. I am staying 8 days, so I will have to pay. It is a small part of the trip expense.

On a better note, the Persian food is in the frig. Be sure to bring your appetite.

My wife will be making the Persian salad in the morning.

Leaving LA around 9:00 PM tomorrow.
Meeting Bob at the Shell around 4:30 AM.
In between will try to persuade the lady luck at Pechanga Casino to smile---as well as take a break from driving.

Really looking forward to this trip. A good group of people as usual.

A long report to be posted here later.
