Sunday Bloody Sunday la jolla fish ID?
After checking the surf from del mar to pB, the high tide wasn't giving much, so I took a trip to la jolla and came home with this bad baby.

Great Job.

Frozen little yellowfin or bigeye. I'd say Bigeye. Did you check it's liver for striations?
|
So for those that don't know a Bigeye has a slightly larger pectoral fin, slightly lighter colored flesh and the edges of the liver have little marks on them.

Excellent Sashimi!! I once got a 50lbs Bigeye within a mile of shore while fishing out of Redondo, but that wasn't in December it was in August during a El Nino~ |
Clearly its an Olive Rockfish
AKA Johnny Bass...! |
