J. B, weld. Then go buy a new one. Don't think anything could fix it well enough for me to want to depend on it. Think about being 2 to 3 miles off the point and having your peddles break. (happens). Would you want a broken paddle to be your only propulsion?

Trash it! Go out and buy the best paddle you can afford. You wont regret it.

Hobie paddles are not made to be used :D

Contact Hobie. They're good people and stand behind their products.
If it looks new(er), no worries. If it looks like you're an enforcer…ummm? If that doesn't work…cash. Cash fixes anything. I do agree with Tony though. |
Thanks guys!

let me start by saying I agree with ful-rac, buy a replacement. In the end it will cheaper and better. I will start by assuming it is hollow. If I was forced to repair it, I would custom fit a wood dowel to the inside with at least 6 inches inside. Then make the dowel small enough to take 2 layers of glass cloth. Laminate the glass on the dowel then epoxy the rod inside the paddle. if possible add a few more layers of glass to the outside. the outer surfaces would all need to be surfaced prepped really well. I think you can repair rods this way but makes a stiff spot in the blank. like i said just buy a new one.

Krap
Everyone knows that Hobie makes krap.
Fix = go see Andy, open wallet, let him reach in and take what he needs, and leave happy with a new carbon fiber paddle, bent shaft or straight is your only choice. |

:aetsch:
Everything hobie makes BREAKS! I can say that because I don't own a hobie. :) |

Go to the hobby store and pick up some thick walled CF tubing. Make sure the OD is close to the inside diameter of the paddle tubing. Cut a piece about 12" long and glass it in with epoxy (west systems of equiv). Slip joint style, or just use the other side as a "stump" paddle similar to what I carry on the PA in the case my drive takes a dump.

It's the business model, make stuff that will break later. So you can fork the money to replace and repair it. Business 101 :notworthy:

I have one for sale. Exact same but you can't break it down into two pieces because of saltwater cause them to get stuck. $25?
|
Thanks guys I am already taken care of !

I bet if contact Hobie and tell then your story, they well likely step up and offer you a deal where you just pay for the Shipping and Handling $114, same as OEX sells them for except you save the tax. That is Hobies customer service.
