easyday 03-18-2015 11:38 AM

if it's not all the way through fixing isn't really necessary, but if you wanted to you could take a doddering iron with a flat tip and smooth it out.

jruiz 03-18-2015 11:40 AM

Fix the wife part or the kayak?:D

ful-rac 03-18-2015 11:44 AM

I think she's trying to tell you something....

MrM 03-18-2015 11:46 AM

Well, obviously fix the wife thing first. After that, I second the notion of "if its not all the way through... don't screw with it."

I had an old OK Trident that got a rough ride due to a screwed up swim step on a boat. Looked like a shark got to it. Some of the deep cuts I flattened out with a heat gun and some spare material. The shallow cuts, all I did was make it look worse.

Most importantly, you can deform the plastic by putting too much heat in an area for too long. If you haven't done it before, I wouldn't try on your new ride.

Hunters Pa 03-18-2015 12:16 PM

Looks cosmetic. Actually, it looks like some points in your column when you tell her that you understand it was an accident and she is more important than any material thing you have.

Should get you on the water more for a while

wiredantz 03-18-2015 12:20 PM

leave it alone... you can always call the manufacture to send you some plastic of the same color and weld it or just some go over it with a solider iron with a flat tip. I have one that hobie makes.

When your wife comes home today....

Do not bring it up......

......just be silent and look sad.....

.....when she says "what's wrong?"......

....you ......sigh....."nothing".....

.....remember ...work the sad eyes.....

Next "marriage lesson". Will not be free.

:D

alanw 03-18-2015 12:48 PM

This is great, it's a get out of jail free card for the next time you screw up.

jorluivil 03-18-2015 12:48 PM

DUDE...REALLY?

If I had to take pictures of all of the wounds that my PA has I'd have to take over 100 photos. Get some heat, press that thing back in and get over it.

One launch at any of the grater launch ramps will be way worse.

yeah tell how you would feel when this is only a 14 day old kayak...

momo fish 03-18-2015 01:54 PM

Don't feel to bad.. My first trip on new kayak got all scratched up after landing low tide and not seeing the rocks. Looks far worst than your damage and it was under the kayak of all places.. Could not blame anyone but myself

benichi 03-18-2015 01:59 PM

yeah just sucks at least she still floats

Bert Vega 03-18-2015 02:07 PM

Your supposed to scratch it right when you get it. Like a helmet. I wont put a new one on until after I drop it. In the grass of course, them things is expensive.

easyday 03-18-2015 02:07 PM

It happens man, mine came off the delivery truck messed up. from the forklift. Andy did a great job smoothing it all out. All our kayaks on here have their battle scars. if they don't they don't get used enough.....

Wow! :farmer: Here's what you need to do.........give her the kayak! Now go get another one for you!
:cheers1:

wiredantz 03-18-2015 02:58 PM

dont' listen to these guys, EVERY scratch COUNTS!..... people who don't care about scratches means they can dish money to get a new one.

If people only knew you had to sell your right kidney to buy this kayak because life has not treated you good.

Take a picture blow it up and put it on your bedroom wall. Let your wife be reminded of the pain she has caused your poor soul

CheapPelican 03-18-2015 03:21 PM

Act like you never saw it. Next time you take get on the water, call her from a different number and tell her that you just got picked up by the coast guard because your yak sprung a leak. Assure her you’re ok but your yak, rods, cell phone and wallet sunk.

Bonus points if you can pull this off on April fools day.

buddha 03-18-2015 03:22 PM

I will show you the bottom of my kayak and you will know what battle scars are!

Fishin Phil 03-18-2015 04:33 PM

Looks like another garage door victim.

MrPatrick 03-18-2015 04:36 PM

Maybe she didn't even know it happened. It's a possibility. Remember, wives never forget ANYTHING!

Sounds like you need to take a strong dose of get over it. Take it fishing and drink a beer, you will live.

benichi 03-18-2015 05:13 PM

you guys made me feel better.. but dont tell the wife im riding this one out she just told me in a text from her work that she put a boo boo on my kayak and she was sorry.. i responded "WHAT!!" THEN SAID I WAS GOING OUT TO LOOK. AND I HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO HER... she is proabably freaking out!!!

Hunters Pa 03-18-2015 05:18 PM

Whatever you put her through will come back to you threefold. Unless you want her to be able to throw it back at you later. Use a razor and shave down the rough spot

Cadillyak 03-18-2015 06:59 PM
