Rockfish Round up
 

Would anybody be interested in getting together and fishing rockfish for a day and donating all fish caught to HOW? Of course it would not be a tournament no money would be changing hands, no food, no give aways no prizes. Just the satisfaction of stepping up and doing your part to help make the veterans events a success. Fish will be processed by me and whoever wants to help. If there are enough people interested in this...I might try to put something together here soon....

Ok...Rockfish Round up Saturday May 9th at La Jolla shores. Launch anytime in the morning, I'm planning on launching sometime between 4:30-5:00 AM. All fish will be donated to HOW, whether you catch a yellow or rockfish WSB or all three. We will all meet up at the Standley Recreation Center afterwards between 1:00-2:00 PM. There we will collect the donated fish and process them there at the park. Let's do a potluck afterwards, Roby has volunteered to bring his grill and hotdogs....anybody else?

I'll grill some hot dogs that day for lunch. A few people can bring some chips and cookies. Everyone bring their own drinks. We can keep it simple.

Ok guys were working on a date hopefully it will be sometime soon. Most likely we will hold it on a saturday, hopefully saturday works out for most of you that are interested in helping out HOW with fish. Next saturday May 2nd is out, because of the next Veterans event. The following Saturday May, 11th is a possibility. Will keep you guys informed.

If work permit i would love to join; maybe we could all pitch in $10 or so to make a cash donation to HOW as well?

I would certainly not be opposed to that...I don't think HOW would either...but since everyone is generously donating their fish and time...I guess we should leave donating money up to the individual.

Ok guys planning on doing the rockfish round up next weekend Saturday the 9th! Oh and we will take yellowtail too but you have to catch one.

Everybody that wants to attend please check in AGAIN!!!!

Unless someone has a better plan Tony and I plan on taking all of the fish home, filleting it and vacuum sealing it, we'll just have to find a way to get it back to OEX.

For those that plan on fishing with us, if possible please remind yourself to bring a knife (if you don't already have one on your pfd/kayak) so that you can gut the fish while you're on on the water, this way Tony and I will have less crap to deal with.

Sadly people will be going hungry with the stringers I've been pulling up . I did finally get my first limits on yak with big Stan last month . I donated them to neighbor down the hall . Good times Stan :D. .

I would love to join in!! I live close by OEX on Mission Bay, AND I have a big chest freezer. I would be happy to take at least some the fish back to my house and filet and vacuum seal to lighten the burden on everyone else. I am happy to help any way I can. See you all out there on the 9th
