4-19 yellow daze
 

went out last tuesday. went 4-2 on yellows. weather was flat calm all day. 50 ' vis off of casa. fish were caught on fly lined macs off condo, casa, and one off pt la jolla 400 yards west of the mlpa.
dogs didn't start steeling bait till noon. fish were caught in the morning, at noon, and late afternoon.
on the water at 6, off at 5. long day. worth the energy and time.

Even after trying to pass the dogs off onto you , they still came back around for a good 30-45 min. Had i busted my personal best , I would have posted . :D. Nice work .

Haha, when we came across each other those were the first dogs of the day for me.
I wish there was bear spray for dogs. Maybe a ghost chili in a macky?

Is that a smoker or did you BBQ all that fish at a single time, lots of fish!

That's a charcoal smoker. It's sensitive and a lot more work than an electric one. But once I got it dialed in i feel like it produces a better flavor.
All that fish was eaten that night. I was hoping for left overs, but I didn't get any.

My daughter calls me from NY and says, Dad, Billy is Ginny's
brother! I said, you mean, one of your best friends, Ginny? Who
has come over lots of times for dinner and whose parents I have
fed BBQ lamb? That Ginny? No way!

I know his parents and sister, but never knew of him until I randomly met Billy on the water while he was in the middle of hauling in yellowtail. Wow.

Here's some pics from that day. I got broke off twice, since yellows were biting over the kelp and it was an instant tug of war. And, I'm still learning
how to tie knots.

Last Tuesday was indeed an awesome day. Multiple kayakers landing multiple quality fish. Here's another on the water photo that day. It was not easy trying to hold up 30lb Yellows one handed while trying not to roll the cuda from the weight shifting while trying to lift then up. Notice the Jim Sammons trick of hanging the legs over the side for added stability. I have definitely got to loose weight.
