Gonzaga April 2-8 MrPukaShell

April is the time the weather starts to settle down and the fishing along with it. WSB are just leaving the area and the water is getting warmer. Bass, cabrilla, and snapper are starting to chew. These spring days are the time to see 100 fish a day.
MrPukaShell wants to enjoy paradise again and invites YOU to join this spring trip. Open to all BWE members. Just post up here.

Baja_Traveler 01-26-2017 11:30 AM

As usual, won't know until last minute...

MrPukaShell 01-26-2017 12:23 PM

About time you got off your,,,,oh forgot you were incapacitaded. Welcome back amigo. Be good to see you again, guess I will have to show up that weekend also. You guys are so good for and to me. You help keep me hopping around. Tight Lives. BTW damn Va Doctor was going to take my right foot last year, it DID NOT HAPPEN, two days ago he told me the little toe on that foot would be gone this year. GUESS what I told HIM. So I too might need some time to recoup this year, but that's ok I can heal there as well as here.

LIVE LIFE to it's fullest everyday. When YOU are handed lemons, use them. Attitude is 98% of the battle. Everyone plan a vacation this year, even a short weekend, Just tell the boss and DO IT. Tight Lines.

Sivak 02-02-2017 11:28 AM

BUMP

On my night to cook I will be doing SeaFood Delight at the restaurant, appears that Mahigeer will do a Persian/Turkish night. What are you prepairing for this trip and what night do you want? Tight Lines.

Mahigeer 03-15-2017 10:33 AM

Bump X2

I would like to have the first or second night for Persian night.

I will be bringing ready made food, and don't want to chance it going bad.

In case if Luis is not there, who else speaks fluent Spanish besides SDROB?
I need to communicate to Luis's wife about the food preparation.

SDROB 03-15-2017 10:49 AM

Change of plans for me guys w my work schedule.

Im gonna end up working that week, however I am going to try and make it up there the weekend of the 8th and 9th if things work out as they should. I really want to get out there and go fishing.

GTboosted 03-15-2017 12:13 PM

I only get one week off a year and it is reserved for a week trip to the Eastern Sierras with the family. Hopefully, one day I get the chance for one of these trips. Looks like a good time!

defjack 03-15-2017 01:19 PM

I will buy some meat and have the restaurant cook it.

Meat for the restaurant for me

Sivak 03-16-2017 07:52 AM

Which website do you use for the tides in or around Bufeo. I can't not find two that show the same data. They are all different and I would like to schedule my arrival a couple hours before high tide.

Gracias

Baja_Traveler 03-16-2017 08:22 AM

Looks like the way work is going, I'll be there the afternoon of the 6th because I have to cover for the boss.

Bob - is the smoker down there or should I bring mine? I think pulled pork sandwiches smoked 12 hours in mesquite are in order. Because of arrival and cook time I can cover dinner Friday night or Saturday...

Yes my GMG is down there. Been hearing about that Pulled Pork for over a year now, will be great to finally taste it. I even have a set of claws to make the pulling easier. I HOPE someone is planning fish, pulpo, almejas or other seafood.

Mahigeer 03-16-2017 03:31 PM

Would you rather I bring Cioppino from Trader Joe’s, instead of Persian food?

Fisherman's CHOICE. It is your call Arkadash.

Mahigeer 03-16-2017 09:05 PM

Item one
I need a final count of the attendees on Thursday, March 30th, so I know how much food to pick up.

Please list here who is coming in addition to the following list;
MrPukaShell—Meat at restaurant
Makobob-----Seafood Delight
Mahigeer----Persian dinner
Baja_Traveler---Pulled pork sandwiches
Defjack-----Meat at restaurant
Sivak-----Meat at restaurant
Brian Jackson

Item two for those who have not been there before.

Travel schedual:
We meet at 5:00 AM at Johnny's Shell station in located at 515 N. Magnolia Ave. Just off of the freeway (8) at the exit #67, N. Magnolia Ave, El Cajon.

From there we stay on the freeway (8) to the exit #98, follow about 30 miles to the highway (111) and take right to border crossing at Calexico.
Shell Station to border is about 125 miles.

From there we follow the highway Mex (5) thru Mexicali, follow signs to San Filipe, Puertocitos, Rio Hardy staying on the highway Mex (5) all the way to San Filipe. Another 125 miles.

Going through San Filipe take right at sign to Puertocitos/airport, go about 9 km to sign saying Puertocitos and take a left, DO NOT go to the airport.

From here is another 95 miles to camp.

VADO means dip in road and years ago they could and would take your rear axle out, SLOW DOWN for them. At km 60-65 be very careful. When you reach km 134 you went 100 yards too far. Sign to camp will say Campo Turistico and you take a left. Up until now (except leaving San Filipe) roads are all good at (60) mph unless posted lower and passable by any car. At turn off for camp it is unpaved dirt road, [15-25] mph but bumpy. Camp is about 1/2 mile from main road.

It is suggested lowering your air pressure at turnoff on your first trip, to about (20) psi. There are/is compressor in camp. Follow until you crest hill and go down to beach, restaurant is on your left, in front of restaurant take a left and follow until you have to take a right at trees, then go 100 feet and take a left, 100 feet and Makoland is on the left 50 yards of soft sand, stay on tire tracks at (20) mph to top, park left by garage.

The sand on the beach can be very soft at times.

Let the good time begin.

Mahigeer 03-24-2017 12:25 PM

Bump.

Baja_Traveler 03-24-2017 05:24 PM

I will be there at lunch on the 6th, leaving on Sunday.

Mahigeer 03-25-2017 06:40 AM

Please list here who is coming in addition to the following list;

Suggested rotation for dinner preparation;

Sunday ----------MrPukaShell—------Meat at restaurant
Monday-----------Mahigeer-----------Persian dinner
Tuesday----------Sivak---------------Meat at restaurant
Wednesday-------Makobob-----------Seafood Delight
Thursday----------Defjack------------Meat at restaurant
Friday-------------Baja_Traveler-----Pulled pork sandwiches
Saturday----------Brian Jackson-----

I guess since we are crossing the border on Sunday, it will be a good testament to the benefit of having a Sentri Pass.

Mahigeer 03-26-2017 09:15 AM

Question for Bob and Robert:

Are there enough stoves to heat up four pots at the same time at the camp?

I have two small stoves, and they may not accommodate large pots.

ONE, what we can't heat up in camp can be heated at restaurant but we have a big three burner stove and a coleman too. That should not be a problem. However as to the Sentri, I did my first this morning. In line at 10:22 CROSSED at 10:25.5 YES 3 and 1/2 minutes on a SUNDAY. WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great news about Sentri pass.

I will meet you at the Shell as usual.

Started to pack fishing gear already.

defjack 03-27-2017 09:21 AM
