Holy Gray Whale!!!
You guys been seeing these roll through LJ?!
I made a video clip starring a very friendly gray who wouldnt leave our boat! Pardon my childish excitement. Still in awe https://youtu.be/ww7Qm7J3Cyw |
That's awesome!!
I'm surprised you didn't jump in the water |

Epic. Serious thou! Ha |
I feel your childish excitement too, just watching your video. That's wonderful. Seems your friend wanted to snuggle.
I always feel happy and in awe of the beauty of nature when whales or porpoises pass near my kayak. Sharks, not so much. |
I think I saw you guys out there around 3pm. Heard you hooting and hollering and at first thought you'd hooked up, then saw your friend hanging around for what seemed like forever and eventually heard you guys rev-up and head south at a high rate of speed.
Truly unbelievable. Glad he didn't decide to do the same to my Revo. |
That's cool...I might not have been so overjoyed with that in a Kayak though.

Yea! We saw a HUUUUUUUGE gray off in the distance. Actually three or four but none of them were social whatsoever. Kept a good distance after that haha. We had a grey blow up in us in kayaks three or four years ago. Nothing will humble you faster! |
Unbelievably AWESOME! Thanks for sharing! :cheers1:
|
Wow, how cool was that!:luxhello: amazed that it stuck with you for so long.
|
That's incredible, the video and editing are awesome. I love it when those huge whales come by close. That would be a lot closer than I'm used to, being at least 25 feet away is good. Just under would defitely make me feel uneasy after a while.

DRY HUMPING THE BOAT!!!!!
HAAAAAA |
Wow, what an amazing video and experience!
|
That is seriously cool!
|
I would have tried to scratch it's back I think. Awesome experience.

Very kewl! It appeared to have something hanging out of the corner of it's mouth at about 3:15?
|
Looks like one of the whales from San Ignacio lagoon - all the friendliest whales come from there. I'll be back down March 8th to visit them...
I usually have to hold my wife by the pants to keep her from just climbing on: http://a4.pbase.com/u41/baja_travele...7.DSC_1630.jpg http://a4.pbase.com/u41/baja_travele...5.DSC_1516.jpg Gonna be a fun trip... |
Judging by its behAvior I would almost guarantee our whale was from San ignacio
|
That's incredible! My only close experience was a grey whale circling my skiff 50ft swimming closer and closer, until it passed underneath my boat side ways with it's giant eyeball staring up at me. Its size was unfathomable, GIGANTIC. My video didn't come out very well, but I also had child like comments of excitement. :D
|
Very cool!
|
That's awesome!!!
|
get ready for your video to go viral. I really mean it. Incredible.
|
Pretty Amazing ! It would appear that the years of friendly interaction with the whales in San Ignacio has extended to areas of their migration.
|
That was epic. Saw a few of them Friday morning as well. Got about 50’ from my yak .
|
That was absolutely unbelievable. Great video and commentary. I have been seeing at least 4 to 6 whales every time out in LJ on my kayak lately. I try to get close but most seem to just avoid me. I had one last year glide right under my PA14 while it was on its back. It was a very cool experience.

Way cool looking into that whale eye and see him looking back at you. B
