Not nice...you must of missed my post yesterday!!! The ocean is for all to enjoy. Congrats to all who caught fish the last few days.

j mo 02-25-2009 05:13 PM

Yes please tell that to all the Skiffys that have no regard for Kayakers or water safety....

That would be me hi-fiving rick who caught a monster 52-pound yellow tail. Rick went to OEX after he landed to get an official weight.

I don't think anybody is intentionally slighting anybody out there, just smile and try and be the better man!:)

PB fisher 02-25-2009 06:09 PM

I concur....passing the :canabis: to the left side
proper form indeed

tthor 02-25-2009 06:23 PM

If you think that without the internet you would have La Jolla to yourself and a couple of kayaks without any "skiffys" during a squid float, your nuts. Just get out there and enjoy it while you can. With the impending MLPA process we could lose the ability to fish it in the future. I've been jonesing all week to get out, but have to wait until Friday to join the circus.

Tom

Amen brother...no arguing between boaters and yakkers like I've seen happen on past bites before.

It is a mess on BloodyDecks right now in the California Inshore forum. A lot of BS post and not really any reports. I like that you have to sign in here to read the forums. Keeps some of the trouble out.

bellcon 02-26-2009 07:32 AM

Congrats to Rick:

Rick my email is Califframing@cox.net

j mo 02-26-2009 07:45 AM

More than made up for Sunday! That thing is a beast:you_rock::cheers1:

Iceman 02-26-2009 08:02 AM

Congrats to Rik, 9 oz shy of knocking :arne1: off the the throne. Yesterday was a pick and the parking lot was spread out with plenty of room and not many fish......I had a jug of squid that yeilded nada. Congrats, Rik, Moyer and Don for brining home the bacon........Rik and the whole PIG:yt:

Matt 02-26-2009 08:10 AM

HELL YEAH RIK!!!!! Super stoked for you my man!!!!

....and Bellcon how the heck can your post be negative?? That is one smiley dude in it!!!

Kiyo 02-26-2009 08:22 AM

Congrats Rick! What a nice fish! Thanks for the squid net the other morning. Saved me a lot of time (didn't catch anything worthy) but still saved some time. Thanks again!

FISHIONADO 02-26-2009 09:18 AM

Congrats! I was afraid I had taken the last of the 50 pound YT from La Jolla. Who will get a 60?

Dan 02-26-2009 09:31 AM

WOW. that fifty+ is intense. I'd just hang it up and go to Bells Beach and wait for the 50 year storm :luxhello:

Even pickier today (Thursday) 10% hookup for a zillion guys. If you could get the squid past the macs you had a shot. Crowd worked well together and everyone was cool.

Trout 02-26-2009 10:04 AM

My boys go to school right around the corner from Blue Water Tackle, so I usually cruise by to bug 'em if I have a few minutes to kill before I pick them up. So I went in yesterday and Roosta shows me that beast... I pretty much shat myself. Beautiful fish. Sometimes you get lucky and catch a beast right away in your younger years. Sometimes it takes eons. But one day, if you fish long enough, something like this comes along. Savor the moment - that thing is epic :cheers1: If I catch one like that I'm gonna Gyotaku it for sure... then you can remember forever!

herefishyfishy! 02-26-2009 10:55 AM

Holy Hell! :you_rock::luxhello: Is there really any question for post of the month?

Nice fish!

Billy V 02-26-2009 11:23 AM

It was Rick's Fish, so it should be Rick's choice to make the Post and tell the story if He chooses.

Its His Thunder man.

I don't post pictures of other peoples fish, because its their story, and their moment.

Rik 02-26-2009 11:39 AM

:luxhello: Man, what a toad. Congrats.

anyone wanna come work at the kearney mesa store so I can get in on the action? :biggrinjester:

lamb 02-26-2009 01:04 PM

Great pic of the squib boats and yakkers w high five.

Great pics of Rick and his fish too - I am very sad that I can't look at that thing again. :(

But very true - Rick's story. I don't know him, but big time congrats on that beaut of a tail! :cheers1: You'd have to tie me to prevent me from bragging with that sort of catch. :D

Rick, if you are there- throw us a pic of two, we'd love to drool on that thing... I'm "paying" you back with a short but sweet 10 secs video of you being towed by that monster right by my boat... at pretty funny speed. :D

Congrats again!

driftwood 02-26-2009 01:32 PM

Just to clarify things, Yes that is me high fiven rick. I dint even know someone took a picture of us.(what a great shot!!!) He man handled that beast on 25 pound line. Rick and i landed back at the same time and later i was told it weighted 52 pounds. I segested to rick to drive to OEX and have it officially weighted because that may be the biggest Y.t. ever caught in a kayak. Can anyone confirm if rick ever did show up at OEX yesterday?

Billy V 02-26-2009 07:56 PM

I hope that fish has a brother.:)

What a spectacular fish, and on #25 lb test. Certainly a testament to your patience, and fishing ability.

I can't think of a more rewarding experience that to catch a World Class Fish while surrounded by your kayak fishing buddies as witnesses.

Foamer 02-26-2009 08:21 PM

Wow! Can't wait to read the story on that one.

Tman 02-26-2009 08:27 PM

Whoever took that beach shot is hired, dang good photo. Funny watching him lift it over and over again, seemed like everybody wanted him to hoist up for a photo op...

And Bajaboy, great pic indeed...who knew that pic you took would turn into that beach shot. Thank you, me likes...
