Atmospheric computer models are predicting a strange anomaly over La Jolla tomorrow. At first glance the analysts thought it was smog, but then they realized that it was a cloud of smug that will be emenating from all the hobie peddlers on the water at the same time for the moyer. Almost as bad as the Prius drivers.
btw...I have one too, but it has not made me a better fisherman. Sometimes I feel like the guy on the ski slopes that has all the newest gear, thinking I'm pretty badass when some old dude on telemark skis and a wool coat comes ripping by and flying over the moguls. Still, fun toy. |

9/10/2010 PUBLIC NOTICE La Jolla officials are now only allowing paddle kayaks at LJ on Tuesdays to give the real kayaks a break from us polluters in Hobies. Thursdays, all 4 wheel drive vehicles are banned from the boat launch area, only 2 wheel-lowered cars are allowed. The city will have a hand winch for you to drag your car out if you get stuck. Saturday is No Powerboat Day. All PB's are to keep 10 miles away form the Condo in all directions. This is a public service anouncement brought to you by the La Jolla Chamber of Kayak Commerce. Thank you. Have a nice fish. I mean day. Sorry |
Just look for a Use Tarpon 160i and get a carbon fiber paddle, its cheeper than a Hobie and just as fast, and its still kayak!
I know of a very old guy, who can out paddle most hobies and he fishes out of a sit inside, Its called "huevos grandes" You dont need a hobie, just paddle faster! the WCW leader isnt in a hobie :P |

The problem is most guys buy a yak and it sits on the side of the house dreaming of getting wet. If your kayak dry's out your not fishing enough. |

I do believe the prime objective here is to sucessfully hunt and catch big fish. Weather off a dock, from a submarine, a sportfisher, whatever it takes.Just do it.:reel:

why do you need to stand up to pee? just stick it over the side and pee. :biggrinjester:
not worth 2400 bucks! though for the width the PA has its pretty fast. I demoed one and really enjoyed it. Kinda felt like if your going full speed, and turn sharply youll fall out  i tried it, Dont lean! The thing has a ton of space on it . I seen a guy with a 5 hp motor on the back lol |

I don't know why you guys are over-thinking it. I mean Standing???? Sheeeeesh.. http://www.kayaksportfishing.com/php...s/icon_lol.gif I prefer not to pull out the long rod unless absolutely necessary, but I will say nines and tens definitely have an edge over the six and sevens most guys use. No need to stand, when I flop mine out it's practically already over the side, I just let her rip, and it goes the distance. The only thing I worry about is sharks, or seabass on a squid bite. Just ask Josh he's the master at picking em up with the long rod. I just find if I have to pull on it all day with multiple hookups, that big rod just wears out my back, so for the most part I keep mine stowed. As to squatters... well.... sounds like someone should check out Malibu's Kayaks new Stealth technology... http://a.imageshack.us/img843/3708/anacrappa.jpg |
