Chicken as lobster bait
Anyone ever try it.I have heard rumors but I want to hear from someone who has actually tried it.
|
I tried it a few years ago, I also tried cat food, rock fish heads & fish guts(not recommended), didn't have any luck with the chicken, guts and cat food.

Chicken
If your out of fishy bait, go to the market and buy the cheapest cuts of Chicken (necks or backs) and and a can of cat food with some holes punched in it (don't punch too many holes or the cat food will leak out too quickly). This works OK as a last minute way to bait up your nets. Folks have been using chicken in the South Eastern states for many years to catch their Blue Crabs. The one positive bonus is that the seals won't bother your bait!
Your much better off using fresh BLOODY OILY Fishy bait. Jim / Saba Slayer |
Thanks guys.I think i will start with chicken and bring the sabiki.Maybe get there a little early friday night.

bait
T Bone, if you are going to put the effort into a night of hooping, please go to your local tackle store or asian market or fish market and buy a few Macks or Salmon heads...anything bloody or oily. As I said chicken is a LAST RESORT BAIT. At least add a fishy bait to the chicken.
If you're short on money, try going to your local fish market and ask them to save their cutoffs for you. Good Luck Jim / Saba Slayer |
