Are your feet bone dry?
 

Help me out brothers.

I have used various types of waders for 20 years and have never had a pair that keep my feet completely bone dry after a long day.

I am not talking about just a little moisture, I want my feet bone dry.:D

Yes, it is true that I usually buy cheaper ones, but this is only after I had a pair of fancy waders which developed a leak on both feet.

Is there some kind of a trick or mod to waterproof the feet on waders?

my Simms don't leak....they also have the wicking socks that help remove moisture...:reel:

Try wearing a water proof bootie....

or buy a larger pair of dive shoes to go over your waders ...

I use my boot footed duck hunting waders. They are bone dry, just looks funny wearing camo on the ocean. I'm with chef maybe your feet sweat too much.

My feet are always bone dry! I can't say the same thing about te bottom of my butt. I use the kokatat pants with built in socks. I wear wool socks then I slip onto my kokatat pants and put on some neoprene booties. My seat is aways wet because of the two scuppers holes under it so in turn my seat gets wet and the wetness aborbs into the pants butt seam which in turn gives me a wet butt. Either that or i don't wear the high enough:p

There are a few solutions to your wet feet problem.

Start off with some good socks so that if by chance moisture gets in or your feet sweat it pulls the moisture away from you feet keeping them warm and dry. Next, upgrade your pants to something that is tried and tested. I have a pair of IR paddling pants and a drytop that work amazing. I don't have the dry pants but if they work as good as their drytops they will solve your problem. Or go all out and get an entire dry suit. Pricey but completely dry. I've taken some swims out of my white water kayak in the winter and stayed dry. I like the IR suit but the Kokatat one is good too.

I use the Hodgeman zipper front waders with Mysterioso socks that I got from Mission Bay OEX. And since I peddle a Hobie I wear some gay strap on sandles to protect the wader feet. My feet have always stayed dry and warm and I always have my feet in the water. A good way to disguise the gay sandals is to catch a big ass fish:D

Make sure you always wear something over you waders like oversized booties. The hot wax should work also. :rolleyes:

Funny, I was reading post going "this guy needs some SeasonFive socks, I should tell him" and then Disco beats me to it.

Like Eric said these things are rad, I am so ready for a long duck season with these things.

I will go with the experienced guys' call again. Season Five socks it is.

Last night I experimented a little and think part of it was foot sweat. I used a high quality/ wicking socks inside and it made a huge difference.

The addition of Season Five booties will likely take care of any outside moisture.

Looks like you found what you need but here's an alternative.

I use hand made polartec 300 socks. They originally were made for cold water commercial divers for their drysuits, but now you can get them from a variety of places and even Cabelas has some.

One thing I love about polartec is it keeps you warm even if it's wet, so if you spring a leak in the waders it doesn't ruin your day.

I've got three pairs. They work great wick moisture and keep my feet warm and dry. I got mine this women off ebay. She's been selling them for years very well made you can't destroy them.

Five or so seasons and they are still as good as new.

I've used them with neoprene waders, breathable waders, and also with my Kokatat Meridian Drysuit, they work great with al three but are amazing under goretex.

The polartec socks would be a good option too. Any wool or synthetic (fleece or polartec) socks will be great at keeping you warm even if they get wet. By all means DO NOT WEAR COTTON! Cotton will be the death of you if it gets wet. A pair of fleece socks under the SeasonFive socks will keep your feet fully dry even if you spring a leak. The S5 socks will keep the moisture/water away from your warmer fleece socks.

We stock Mysterioso Polartech socks as well as mentioned in a few posts above. Jim is right, they work well. I have worn them under waders while hunting for a few years and they are great but this year ill be wearing my warm and dry SeasonFive stuff (or both like Eric suggested).
