Did I do it right? I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to electrical wiring...:rolleyes:

My neighbor said I can use one terminal from the motor to the battery. Was he right?

I would need a separate battery cable if I followed my diagram.

I'm assuming it will be in a waterproof box with the battery.

For safety, how about a "kill" switch with a lanyard attached to you in case you fall off?

Yes, you only need to interrupt one side of the battery to motor system for the fuse to work. You can do exactly the same thing with the switch either before or after the fuse (between the motor and the fuse, or between the fuse and the battery).
