Let's talk knots "Roy Rose Knot"
For those who are interested this is a knot thats good for doubling the line or for making a dropper loop. Stronger than the regular dropper loop and stronger than the spider hitch. Invented by Roy Rose of the Royal Polaris, it's a strong knot for sure.
First step double the line to however long you want the loop. http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps15daf4ac.jpg Second step make a loop with the doubled line. http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u...psbd5a9293.jpg Third step make 5 overhand wraps. http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps20ed8dbf.jpg Fourth step pull together, making sure that all 4 legs of the knot are even when cinching down. (critical!) http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u...psa7003e9a.jpg Fifth step Cinch down, should look something like this. http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u...psdba0e6ed.jpg If you want to fish a dropper cut the loop to whatever length you desire, and tie on your hook and sinker. |

Can you just tie my knots at the launch?
I will let you follow me on the water.:D Trying it out right now, thanks Tony. |
How about a entire video course!
|
A Surgeons knot that you go through 5 times with rather than two?

I learned it with 6 turns. Wonder what the difference is. A lot of people use 3 way swivels these days.
|
Wait why tie knots when there are knotless hooks out there!
|
I caught this a couple of weeks ago using a 3 way swivel. I tie the swivel straight to the braid, 30 pound to the hook and 15 pound to the sinker.http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/o...SeaBass010.jpg

It's nothing more than a five-turn surgeon's knot (as mentioned) or a doubled uni-knot. But I suppose if somebody wants to name a knot after himself, he can...

Please quit trying to help Tony, your just creating drama. Since the "I want timely reports" drama has fizzled out the boys need something new to sink their teeth into:rolleyes: Now show that spectra to leader knot, the one you showed me the other day... But call it the Fulrac knot to better the chance of a good old fashion drama hook up.:pcguru: |

Wasn't throwing stones. It looks like a perfectly good knot, and if it's a modification of something else that the good Mr Rose developed, he CAN name it after himself.
Now for the Rocky knot, do I combine the Trilene knot with a Uni for hook tying -- or back-back unis with the ends tucked between the strands blood knot style for joining lines? Decisions decisions... |
Thanks for the pics Big Tony....
Most of the knots you've shown me I've put to good use... |
