La Jolla Rockfish 12-31-12
Didn't have too many plans New Years Eve, so I snuck in a last min trip to LJ. Went there hoping for YT, but never saw them come through. Yoyo'd til my arm was going to fall off, then gave up and headed out for some rockfish at 11. Made a quick limit in an hour. 5 Barberpole, 1 Red, 2 Starry, and 2 freakishly big Chuckleheads.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...r/file-195.jpg Beautiful day out there. Very little swell or wind, lots of whales and porpoise out, and a limit of one of the ocean's tastiest fish. Good way to wrap up the year. Steve |
Happy New Years Steve.
Nice haul. To a successful 2013! :cheers1: |

A great way to finish off a yellow-less morning! Nothing better than barber poles for fish tacos! Jim

Is that a Fishmas Wreath? Nice job Steve.

Nice haul on the last day of the season. I got a couple too. DFG closure: No more rockfish till March.

YT vs Rockfish
Ok, so they are not as much fun to catch, but Rockfish are soooo much tastier! What a nice day for you. Happy New Year. Here's to many more days like that in 2013, for all of us. My New Year resolution is to catch a YT on my kayak. I have only been outside the bay twice and am looking forward to some LJ trips this year! See you out there!
