Capo beach area, high-tide was at 12:00 ish, I made it out just after. Scratched for 3 hours and called it quits. I stayed pretty shallow 20 ft . The wind picked up in fits. It was coooold wind on the water. On the beach it was great.

only one taker on whole squid. It measured around 18 inches, it was a nice fish released for someone to catch again.

Nice day on the water!

Nice fish! Its all about quality not quantity.

Nice fish to save the day.

I camped at doho last week without the kayak, but i did walk down to Capo side at low tide with a surf rod. It was pretty cool to see all the reefs & structure exposed at low tide. Really cool area with lots of structure to fish, makes me want to head south with the yak more often :cheers1:

Thanks for the report :cheers1:

What is that?

^ was thinking the same thing. colors almost look like LMB. but this is the ocean. ROFL

Nice time it looks like. Thanks for sharing.

Fins, head, and body look like a lingcod. The patterns and colors throw it off though.

regular old Calico Bass. Quality though. Always nice to be out. You launch at poches or make the paddle?

I've been launching at the beach rd & palisades metered lot.

While it's only 1 wave, it's shore-break that can still ruin your day. Out-side of that it's a pretty simple launch.

I like camping at that location. How did you do in the surf? I have not had much luck on shore fishing that area. I see people catch fish (mostly rays and sand sharks).

Didn't catch anything from the surf this time, but in the past I've caught plenty of YF croaker & perch there. I've also caught bass from shore in front of capo during the summer.

I did some beachcombing & found lots of cool bleached bones scattered on the beach. I was trying to guess the species, but the best I cold come up with was dinosaur

Most the time the surf was flat

Every once in a while a mean shore pound would come through. I wouldnt want to have the yak in the middle of this mess
