San Luis Obispo- Suggestions on location to fish
I am gonna be stuck in San Luis Obispo for two weeks. Any suggestions for saltwater or fresh water fishing?
Thanks Todd :cheers1: |
I lived in SLO for 4 years. Check out Montana de oro in Los osos. It's only about 15 minutes from SLO. Easy launch and great fishing in the kelp once u get around the point, but it can be pretty dangerous out there as it gets like a washing machine. I have done pretty well on halibut in port San Luis also. Fish the cove on the right side of the pier that has the restaurant on it. Drift live bait or throw swimbaits.

And suit up! that water is COLD!!!!!!

I concur...
Many years ago, I worked at Olde Port Fish Co out on Port San Luis pier. On the road into Port San Luis, there is a small and very calm beach that is protected from surf. No surf launch. Don't remember how difficult it would be to get your kayak down to the beach but there should be some access. Yes, the halibut fishing there should be quite good. There is a bait on tackle shop for frozen bait, but I don't remember ever being able to buy live bait. You may have to catch it, but frozen should work fine. Have fun. It is beautiful country and I miss it very much.

Tuna, When are you heading up.
Rockfish doesnt open till May1st, But the lakes in the area the bite should be on. Margie just up the hill, bass fishing is off the hook, Naci has spotted bass holding on every point and cove, and road that zig zag around the dragon those are your two best bets before April, Once April hits salmon possible our of PSL, or Morro. Email or PM for some more SLO details. Ryan |
Sounds good heading up in May
