I was thinking of spraying it on the FF and the mirage drive...

That's awesome! the stuff has to be similiar to what Jamie Hyneman uses on his famous white shirts.

I wonder if spraying a whole hull would make it easier to paddle?

ful-rac 06-26-2013 10:04 AM

Holy crap you can actually buy that stuff at home depot?!

possibilities.....

Went to the detail page listed in the article, price and coverage.

At Home Depot, Rust-Oleum NeverWet includes two spray cans — a base coat and a top coat — that can cover 10 to 15 square feet.

Retailing for $19.97, Rust-Oleum NeverWet will begin appearing over the next few weeks at stores other than Home Depot here and nationwide.

Would really appear to have some great potential. I wonder if you coat something and happen to miss an area would something corrisive like saltwater would get under it and cause it to lift or trap salts increasing the corrision.
May have to grab some just to play with.:D

I'm going to pick some up when I get back to san diego, I will let everybody know what I think.

RobFish 06-26-2013 10:33 AM

Just might have to try this on my waders.
Maybe even try it on the sheets that I use on third dates!

ful-rac 06-26-2013 10:42 AM

inside of waders seems like it would be awesome! they won't get wet and they wont' need to dry...should help out on those multi day fishing trips...no more soggy, cold wet waders on day 2...

You've had a third date?

makobob 06-26-2013 03:22 PM

He said third DATES.

Depending on how long this spray lasts there are endless possibilities. Dry pants that are breathable and actually work! while your at it just spray everything your wearing so if you have a yard sale while landing the only thing that will be wet is your hair! Lets see kayak seat, everything metal that rusts on your yak, truck seat, mud flaps, electronics. But like all good things I really doubt it works as good as they say for any realistic time frame.

If you watch the video it says it still allows fabric to breath because it does not seal the fabric to create a waterproof surface it uses... I don't remember exactly what the technical terms are but magic, yea we will call it magic lol

Put it on all your reels.

da22y 06-26-2013 06:20 PM

Put it on the car windshield, rain just bead off, no wiper needed.
Put it on your paddle, it lift out of water with no dripping.... :)

jorluivil 06-26-2013 06:21 PM

I'm spraying everything that's on my kayak with that stuff

Best idea ever. Dripping paddle on a windy day is the most annoying thing ever!!!

Drake 06-26-2013 09:03 PM

Things I've tested it on.

Sunglasses - Doesn't work: Way too hazy!
Paddle Pants - Works awesome.
Hooks - I sprayed a hook and put it in some salt water with a non treated hook. Testing the rust repel capabilities.
