Launching at Shelter Island, Sunday morning
Am planning to get to SI about 6am, unload and be paddling by 6:40, out to the bait barge, get some dines and if the current isn't to bad out a bit along the jetty, then drift in till the tide changes and call it good around 2pm. Anyone want to join?

Sounds like a good plan. How did you do?

I wish I had results to post, nothing but overly agro lizard fish, had nice sized sardines and was targetin halibut, had one seriously raked bait where the middle of the dine was bitten off. Done by 1pm. Water was milky in color close to shore, cleaner in the channel.

It happens...
I have had the best fishing across from the Island Prime restraunt, near the carriers. I have not fished that spot in my kayak because it's a long, long, peddle from bait receiver to that spot. I have had minimum success in the area of the bait reciever but I know they are out there.
I may have to go ahead and make the peddle in my yak next time. I will let you know how it goes. Janine:paddleersmilie: |
