Nothing fancy is needed; positive to positive and negative to negative with a fuse inline.

If your an electrical major, you might as well draw up a schematic of what would you like to have done and what you wanna route cable wise to switch panels, fuse box, terminal strips for your bait tank and fish finder.

But really nothing beats a simple connection to the battery directly with an inline fuse. Keep it simple, less headache unless your looking for a custom setup.

The more parts you have the more parts that can fail. Most of the guys that go all fancy generally only fish freshwater.

whenever I add something to my kayak I follow the KISS method:D

Battery ...wire...FF

Battery...wire....bait tank

Skip all the crap in between .

It will corrode and fail......at a perfect time not chosen by you. :D

The other downside to getting crazy is that if/when something fails you will likely not be able to fix it on the water. I've had my FF fail but was still able to use my bait tank since they were on their own circuits. My parents had a boat when I was younger that they eventually got rid of because there was a short/defect somewhere in the electrical system and since everything was integrated together the cost of replacing the wiring harness wasn't worth the time and money. I can't imagine going out at night and having something happen then losing lights, FF, and bait tank because they're all connected. I've just carried that scenario through with me as I've started kayaking and just have everything on it's own circuit.
