Sunday June 24
Well launched at around 5 with Yanni and one of his buddy's to minimal surf and headed down to the pier.....in what would be a pretty dismal attempt at making bait. Searched the pier for bait for a little under an hour and called it quits and headed on out to the kelp to a swarm of yaks and pbrs, saw a really cool sea turtle along the way, attempted to make any bait in the kelp and discovered lots of people having a hard time getting bait. Finally made a spanish and pinned him on the flyline all por nada! Came in to a beautful set of waves and surfed on in on a specacular day only one thing was missing for me and that was a fish!!!

same for me on sat. horrible south wind took 45 min just get 8 macs which 2 weeks ago the bait was jumping in your yak .seemed like they dredged all that kelp up only coupl small paddies out there now water temp dropped couple degrees also
|
We launched at 5 am as well and I couldn't get the bait to bite much either. I managed to get 2 but all I could catch was a knothead! Lots of people out there trying and I did not see one person catch anything. They said the same thing happened on Sat. Oh well, there's always next weekend! I had a nice time out there anyways!

6 days remaining in the WSB derby. |
Bait was the only thing I was able to do Sunday. ;) I managed eight pieces. Two fed to the knothead on the NW corner. One bait ripped by what I thought was a shark. The bait was cut cleanly in half and had one more cut on it that went almost all the way through. I did see one guy on a PB fighting a small mako until the line broke. Other than that it was a nice day and a great paddle.

Launched out at 5:00 am as well yesterday. Making bait was no problem as I made a dozen spanish macs. It was catching fish with the bait that was the problem. :dontknow: . Thousands of perch swimming around out there, even caught on on the sabiki.
Other than the lack of fish it was a nice day hanging out fishing with Sherm & Nunya. |
went out yesterday as well had no problem with bait
Had a yellow explode on an iron next to the boat but he didnt stick :( Caught numerous cuda on iron and watched a little yellow swim around under the kayak but couldnt get him either. Saw the PBs get 3-4 little yellows on the slow troll watched one PB get a nice 20+ lber in only 45 ft of water off the condo but no yellows for me got em last weekend but luck wasnt on my side sunday. also the bite didnt seem to pick up until about 1:00 |
I figured as much. Tide really started to move about that time. The tide was awful in the morning. No tide movement. No current. Lake Pacific out there in the morning.

I was ~10,000 miles away, harvesting little of the fish that is still left in the Adriatic. Small, but tasty - much better eating than spotties. ;) http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall.../515/catch.JPG |
