Day 1 big bear lake
Went out on the lake today for 3 hours, wind blowing pretty good. We quickly realized how little we know about trout fishing....going out for some structure fishing around the docs in a bit...beautiful view....http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/25/amuhyqu2.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/25/gu5aqeby.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/25/e6u5aned.jpg

you guys crank!!
Thank you for the fish report. I'm packing and heading to Big bear lake right now!! :jig: |
If you hook into a 20 lb. trout, you're in good shape.
We usually use 6 lb. test line with an 1/8 oz. spoon. http://www.watermanatwork.com/KayakF...merRainbow.jpg |
I believe in being over prepared 😛 I do need to get some light gear as you guys have suggested ....it all takes time ...hell truth of the matter is I just love fishing even if I have the wrong setup...ignorance is bliss 😉

They have a K Mart in Big Bear and you should be able to pick up some cheap light gear for under $30 for each set. That's all you need for trout. just use 4lb to 6lb line.

Depending on how you are fishing, the avet is less overkill then you would think. Spool it up with lead core line, run a big Ford fender with a snubber and 24" of 4# floro. Then a little Rapala, worm or power bait and troll it around.
Last time I trolled for trout my go to reel was a Calcutta 400. Yeah the avet is a LITTLE overkill but whatever |
