Gonzaga, house for rent?
Hi guys,
Some friends and I are planning to spend some days at Gonzaga on March 12-16, i would like to know if you guys know some house for rent, or what place you guys recommend to do some camping, the plant is just to be worried for do some fishing and that's it :reel: I really appreciate you advice on this. saludos desde Mexico! |
Hello Carlos,
Don't know of any houses for rent in or near Gonzaga, but it seems that there are several places to stay and/or camp. Alfonsina's is a place where you can rent a room. http://www.alfonsinasresort.mx/ The web site doesn't seem to be working well, but does have their contact information. According to the "Baja Catch", there are numerous places to camp in and around Bahia Gonzaga. If you don't have this book, I recommend you pick it up. It is THE Baja Bible. If not, I'm sure you can drive down and ask around for the best place to camp. Good luck on your trip! Can't wait for you to post the report! |
As you drive pat the market and P Mex after Papa Fernandez look for the sign Campo Beluga. Palapas on the beach flush toilets and cold showers.
|
Thanks a lot for your advice guys, I think we will stay on Papa Fernandez or Campo Beluga. magic words are "Flush toilets and cold showers".
Last year we spent 4 days on Puertecitos... was insane... a really good fishing, we want to drive a little bit more this time, hopefully we can catch some bigger fish :reel: Thank you guys! Saludos desde Ensenada! |
Here's the number for Rafael how runs Campo Beluga if you wanted to call ahead. Not necessary but just in case. He spends 1 week a month in San Diego and the rest of the time in Gonzaga. If you bring him some fresh sigh he will sometimes cut you a break on the camping fees.

What lures to use in Gonzaga
Hi Guys,
Date is close, we are counting the days to enjoy the fishing in Gonzaga, do you have an idea about what lures or bait to use? I am taking with me sevevarl Zman plastics, some jigs and spoons, any in particular you guys suggest? Thanks! |
Mega baits and or Lazer minnows are good. Bring some trolling lures, rapalas, yozuri's things like that. Make sure you bring extra rings and treble hooks for your megas as it seems everything has big powerful teeth down there...that seem to like to crush or bend a hook... !
|
Salas 6Xjrs and Megabait type lures with the hooks changed on the Megas. March is a little early in the season there for many of the top water fish. You might have to deal with the gill nets at that time too.
|
memo to self: stock up on Megabait type lures from 1-4 oz at Fred Hall!:D
|
This eBay Store sells megabait look alike at very reasonable prices. And you don't have to change the trebles out.

The plastics are really fun down there, but you will go through way too many for it to be really effective. Tons of toothy fish. I'd stick to the smaller metal stuff. And when I say small, nothing is too small. Basic small, chrome jigs with strong hooks. The bait they feed on in that area are smaller than anchovies. Good luck.

thank you for the advice guys!!!
