Help fixing a rod
 

Hi All,

Need a little help. A reel seat on one of my bait casting rods has come
loose. The cork above and below is fine but the reel seat will twist.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Drill a couple small holes through the reel seat, but not the blank. Then inject some 5 minute epoxy once you have the reel seat aligned properly.

What kind of rod? If it is a Shimano they should fix it for free and Calstar/seeker are pretty good about helping you out too I hear.

But if its older or you don't want to wait a month for the manufacturer to fix it, try going MM rods in Point Loma. They specialize in custom making rods, so I'm sure they can fix the seat of your rod as well.

what bubblehide said to do will work but you need an adhesive with a really low viscosity. something close to water. you could try heating the epoxy. i would not try 5 minute epoxy because the heat makes it runny but also speeds up the cure. maybe a 5 min with mixing nozzle, preheat both parts, and inject. i have never done this it is pure speculation.

I've done it with the self mixing injectable type. Just keep in mind that everything needs to be right before hand. the holes need to be the right size for the injector, and the handle needs to be aligned correctly. You can do it with a slow cure, but you will need a monoject type syringe to inject it is, and then tape off the holes until the epoxy is set, so you don't get leakage.
