Avet reel size?

What is a good size reel for big YT and tuna? Also is the raptor model worth the extra money? I also use braid with 50 to 100 yards of floro. any help is appreciated alot!!

Go with an MXJ-non raptor.

But if you have the money...by all means....but really most of the things your gonna catch from your kayak or by boat even will not require dual drag.

What do you consider a big tuna?

MXJ or even MXL if your not using braid (which is not advisable).. I use SX and MXJ when fishing. Just use different top shots..

I did see someone at LJ recently with a HXW raptor and besides being jealous was thinking how much of an overkill that was.. 😊

50-100 yards of flouro 😱 thats shaait is expensive! I use about a 10ft floro leader on top of spectra

I would go with the MX. That will cover most of your fishing needs

JX 2 speed raptor at minimum for "big tuna".

Back in the gulf, you'll be able to use it for sharks.

100 pound plus tunas...in that case you should look into the Shimano talicas, 16 IIs and 20IIs. Awesome reel with insane pulling power....but with a hefty price tag.
