Favorite Plano/Storage for Tackle? (Iron specifically)
Well, like the title says: What's your favorite storage system?
I currently have about 5 total plano boxes that hold mainly all my swimbaits from bass fishing. The problem I'm currently having is the plano box for my iron keeps getting dried out and cracking or it gets sand inside and basically trashes the iron. Anyone have experience with the waterproof plano's? Or how do you store your iron for safe keeping. |
Plano waterproof 3600 stowaways work really good for me. I have a 2015 Outaback upgraded the round hatch to rectangular and am using the Hobie tackle management systems. They work really well.

X3 on waterproof Plano. Jigs are hung dry before going back. Those boxes keep water out but also hold moisture in... aka rusty hooks. Also keep the boxes stored in a cool dark place to avoid UV exposure.

I still have the jig container from the old pro angler hatch. Works perfect and drains.

take those little dessicant packets ("Do Not Eat - Silica Gel") that come with shoes, etc and throw them in with your hooks, jigs, etc. They absorb moisture |
I have heard that a piece of blackboard chalk helps absorb any moisture in the air of the box.

I was on the Islander with Jim Sammons several years back and he had his jigs stored in the Plano Tackle boxes that have holes in them. I've used them for jigs ever since. For hooks and such I use the waterproof tackle boxes.
