What it is this? I did not want to force it. Does it unscrew? Or needs a hard pull?

Those are rivets. Just drill em out.

Unless you were talking about the black plastic cap. Looks like a plug of some sort that should unscrew. I would try to put a pair of pliers on it and turn.

It's a drain plug so you can drain any water that may leak into the hull, just unscrew it.

It lets in water when you are out at sea. Make sure to reinstall and tighten prior to launching , if you want to stay seaworthy . This can be removed to speed up the drying process after a day on the water.

Drain plug makes sense. I think I will leave it alone.

Before posting, I had tried to turn it with hand, but it did not move.

Plastic can get very brittle when it is old and it has been sitting in sun.

I have angled the kayak forward and used a sponge that I keep in the kayak to remove any water in the past.

if it is a sit on top kayak it will drain any water that gets trapped inside the sandwiched hulls. It probably has sand in it that makes it hard to remove. Turn your boat upside down and squirt water under pressure into the threads. It should come lose. If it doesn't it may be cross threaded and once you get it out it will have to be replaced. If you have a sit in kayak then leave it alone and just drain the hull out of the cockpit.

if your kayak starts getting real heavy you might want to figure out how to get it loose, or if you hear sloshing noises when you pick it up.
