Trouble with hobie vantage ct seat

So I went out on the outback today for the first time in about a month to SD bay to practice not catching halibut and when I got out to the point and made my turn to ride the tide/wind back in I decided to recline my seat and take a load off. The wind turned south and when I went to bring my seat back up to normal upright position it wouldn't budge. The little release lever moves like normal, but the cable doesn't retract, this left for a pretty uncomfortable paddle back in.

Has anyone experienced this? I am sure I can get it addressed under warranty but I would rather just fix it myself if its doable. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

Patrick

Lots of problems

No, you are not the first. They need to throw the ct seat in trash and redesign the thing . Not sure if there is a cure . I wish I kept my 2014 as a thrasher . Oddly enough , the PA has none of these issues . Let's see who chimes in.

Patrick,

I JUST got my outback recently so cannot comment on the quality yet, but upon a cursory inspection when I bought it, it appeared as though the mechanism for retracting the seat was a simple bungee cord! I'm probably wrong, but if I get a chance later tonight, I will look at it for you. If that is the case, you may get away with re-tying it or something more DIY. Standby.

Never has any problems with it not moving. I did however have a problem with the default ride height. Fixed that by flipping the spring. Default is now high and pulling cable drops it.

I have had several stick in the demo fleet, something pinches inside. Series of 8 little screws to pull off the rear cover.

sand and salt crystals build up on the components. i spray mine down with fresh water and also lube it time to time.
