GearTrack Ram ball?

Does anyone have an issue with the ball spinning loose since there is only one center screw holding it? I installed on directly on to my Pro angler side board and found that it spins loose. I'm planning to put on some lock tight but i'm not sure if that enough. Any ideas on how to keep it from coming loose? Anyone have the same issue using it on a gear track?

Using it for rod holders or FF?

I read a while back that if you're using one for a rod holder that's being used for trolling you want to keep it on the right side of the kayak. Even still if the fish hits are levers the rod around counter-clockwise you risk loosening the ball. It might be worth mounting a diamond-based ram ball to dedicate for rod holder use.

Yea i'm thinking the same, Diamond base 1" ball seems like it will fit my needs. I'm actually asking because i just picked up an oasis and the rails on that thing has no space.

Maybe think about getting mighty mounts for your rails and throw scottys on. I loved that setup on my PA

I have two installed on my PA and I've never had them come loose. I do recall tightening the bolt as tight as possible but I do not recall whether or not I used Locktite.

In addition to the other comments, consider using the 1-1/2" ball for rods. The 1" seems good for cameras and just adequate for fishfinders.

that super generous of you but it could be some times before i'll be down your way.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, i think i'll take it out a few times with the wife before making a decision on hold holders. I'd hate to drill in to the thing just to find its not what i want.

Ok no worries, ya just try something til you really like it and go with that. I always had to fight my ram ball rod holders.
