Hobie Mirage 180 Turbo Fins

The upgrade Turbo fin kit has finally been released $129, only compatible with the 180 drive. All 2017 models had stock ST drives except the Camo Outback and the PAs. I also have the complete 180 Turbo fin drives in stock for $819

Nice for sure.

Dang, and I have two sets of peddles on the 17. Do you take trade ins?

Awesome, was wondering when these would be available!

I wonder how much my dealer would give me for two 2015 mirage drives as trade in??

Would like to walk in with some cash and the two drives and come out with two new 180 turbos.

I suppose I could just sell them too.

I really want to try backpedaling in a river I know parked out over a nice hole. There really is no way to anchor over it but I figure this might be a good way to stay in position and its not much different than paddle trolling which I do for lengths of time at once.

Zowee though... they sure are proud of the 180 drive! I can just about buy an outboard motor for that...

Would be a substantial upgrade to my standard drive in my PA though...

How much longer are the turbos than the standard set?

Iceman 02-28-2017 03:12 PM

2 inches longer............like going from 2nd to 3rd gear.

Being someone impressed by Hobie inovations but remaining a kayak purist I can tell you that I saw a perfect application for these 180 drives late last year in the mangroves at Campo Rene near Abreojos. I was fishing with a friend who had a new PA 14 with the 180 drive and he was able to stick his nose in these mangrove channels and back himself out with ease. Quite impressive actually.

So my dealer just told me that for $370 they could "convert" my 2015 drive to a 180 by swapping in some parts.

I would much rather go that route than dropping $820 for a new drive when I have a perfectly good drive.

Frankly I wonder if I could order the parts and build it myself? Sounds kind of fun.

Conversion is news to me and my Hobie rep.:D

I've been happy to have a second drive, it has saved a NUMBER trips for me and my guests in Baja. NEVER hurts to have a back up. BTW I love my 180 might be the best Hobie purchase ever. Being able to get in tight to the cliffs and fish the shore line is key to the cabrilla down here and the ability to reverse out upon hook up helps the capture rate. Tight Lines.
