Which Garmin striker
Hey all! I’m a first time poster after about a year of lurking and would like to start by thanking y’all for all the help you’ve given so far! So I’m outfitting my new to me cobra fish n dive since we’ve got all this free time on our hands. I’ve been leaning towards a Garmin striker unit and plan on mounting it with duct seal. Is it worth getting the clear vu model for inshore use? If I knew it worked I’d get it for sure since it doesn’t cost much more but idk if it’ll work in depths that are seen out in La Jolla and if the duct seal mount would hinder it as well. Any advice would be appreciated!

Can’t comment on the garmin unit. But the duct seal is a good way to mount a ducer inside the hull. It’s simple, it’s easy, it’s cheap, it’s effective, and if you don’t like it change it.
Only negatives is you don’t get accurate temperature readings if you’re searching for the temp change. Other then that it’s good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I have the Garmin SV7 its a good unit.

Feel free to use the search. At this point I’ve just been copy pasting my review of the striker 4 plus and echomap

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Especially professorlongarms, it’s your previous posts that sold me on the striker! How do you have your transducer mounted?

I saw this the other day and have been thinking about it for an older trident that I’m about to get. https://youtu.be/5spAOmj_TJg I also rigged my scupper with goop and it worked just fine. It is nice to have the water temperature, but otherwise I didn’t really notice too much of a signal loss |
Very cool
