faulty scupper posts

On one of my old kayaks, I have had a large amount of water entering the hull every time I go out. Usually between 5 and 30 litres. For some time now I thought this was entering through my rudder which does not stay tight (no moulded threads), or through one of my hatches, as I have been out playing in fairly rough weather (30knot winds and big swell) so I just accepted this.

I went out today for the first time in some flat water, and only 2 knots of wind. I paddled 500m, and returned to find 10 litres of water in the hull. I stuck my head inside for the first time in full sunlight to discover that the top of 4 scupper posts, and various areas of the hull itself are that thin and holey that I can see the pink of my fingers through them.

I would like to know what I can do about this firstly to seal them, and secondly due to how thin they are, what can I use to add some strength to the posts themselves.

Any help would be appreciated

What kinda kayak? If its an earlier Ocean Kayak they may replace the kayak. My first P-13 (2004) had pin hole leaks in the scuppers and they sent out a new one. Its a well documented problem. If not DGAX it!

Good luck
