Stand up sight fishing on a kayak?
Im looking to get a new kayak. I really want one that i can stand up in and sight fish. If only for a minute when im out in the ocean. Alot of my fishing is on lakes with structure where sight fishing can be a huge advantage. I know the wider the better, but not necessariliy, I'm thinking about foot area too. Pictures just dont do justice. Does anyone have experiance they can share? something stable enough for a 6ft 200lbs guy? I deffinitely want something under 14 feet.

I have a cobra fish and dive and I am able to stand up on it... it holds up to 600lbs! too!

Or Kayakfishingsupplies.com OEXOceanside.com You know, the people who bring you this forum....
My vote goes to the Wilderness Systems Ride. Double Pontoon bottom for amazing stability in a kayak that you can still lift by yourself.... |
Hobie it. If your not on one your not fishing!:jig:
|
Darn,I thought I was fishing this whole time!
|
Are the hobies 14 ft or smaller
|
He said he wanted a kayak not a hobie hehhehhehe:luxhello:

The Pro Angler looks like the ultimate yak. But its a pig, seems too big to throw up on the roof of my jeep cherokee by myself. Not to mention Expensive . Are the peddels really worth it? I can see some advantages.

Did you really just applauded yourself? And I thought responding to confirm your own post 3 times would have been enough. |

Neither of those links are correct anyways....
Hobie Website is www.hobiecat.com You can see the Pro Angler specs here: http://www.hobiecat.com/fishing/models_proangler.html |
HOBIES SUCK!!!! someone post a link to the proangler trying to navigating the tiny surf at LJ before this guy blows 3G's!!!! :biggrinjester:
just kidding....hobies are awsome, the prangler is a little overkill IMO but you can stand up in it, the only other hobie you can easily stand in is the outfitter tandem (which is an awsome fishing platforn for long days and/or big surf) ..... on another note, most of the guys i know who are well adapted to sight fishing in the open ocean actually just paddle on their knees, that way they can paddle a boat which is fast enough to get to the spotted fish before they sink out. peddles drives are worth thier weight in gold!! |
