Driving onto the beach

If we can no longer drive onto the beach, is there a safe place to store our wheels near the beach so we don't have to take them with us or walk to our non 4-wheel drive vehicles after a full day of fishing? Does anybody lock their wheels to the pole fence near the launch with a bicycle lock? Any ideas?
Can we still drive onto the beach in the early morning when it's empty? I assume this new rule applies to busy mid-day hours. Is that correct? Just a wondering guy!

Most people who cart their yaks to the beach lock up their wheels at the deck by the boardwalk. I think in the mornings when the lifegaurds are not there you can drive on the beach but the sand is very soft so be careful. With that said I'm fishing La Jolla @ 5:30am Sat for calicos, if you want to come.

La Jolla Launch

Thanks Ken,

I'll be there, but I won't be fishing for calico.
