wrong time for yo/yo?
 

targeting YT in La Jolla right now, should I stick to making/using live bait and have a surface iron ready to go, or can you find fish wih the yo yo iron right now?

There is no wrong way to fish as long as you are confident in what you are presenting. I personally would make bait and troll and have a surface iron ready. If you can make greenbacks, that is the key! The YT pretty much hang where the bait is. So if you meter the bait deeper, put your jig in the bait. If they are puddling on the service, drag your bait and be prepared for some boinling fish. Good Luck!
