Newbie advice

Hey all,
I am a Newbie to San Diego and Kayak fishing. I have been fishing a little bit out of Mission Bay and have been catching a few Spotties, and some Grumpies. I have been wanting to hit LJ soon but haven't felt real comfortable in my inexperience to go out and fish for the big dogs. I was wondering if any one had any advice to catch some halibut or Calicos in Mission and SD Bay, or just some faishing advice in general. Anything will help. I am use to river and lake fishing for Large Mouth Bass and Pike in Northern Idaho so fishing down here has been a bit different then what I have been use to. I appreciate the replies.
Thanks a bunch!

in sd bay pole # 13 or #17 of the cornando bridge have been very good to me for halibut. I like the gulp nuke chicken. in mission bay if you can deal with the waves on the way out of the jetty on the left i have got some huge sand bass and a few t sharks. I am going out of la jolla sunday, i want another sheep.
