I didnt know uluas grew outta the ground! ill be amazed if you brought that to LJ and hooked up a yellow on one of them..

This calcutta rod (non-shimano) was my grandfathers.He caught lots of YT and albies with it in the 40's and even into the 50's

There is only one guide left on it and the tip.The action isnt as bad as you would think.I was considering restoring it,but I think it will just make a great gaff one day.

We always had a Jack Pole on the D2 and Dominator when I worked on those boats. Nothing like flinging a 40lb Yellowfin over the rail seconds after it bites. If the Calcutta can take that kind of abuse then why not a jigstick? It may not be the best but he will be able to say he did it.

Think about how many tuna were killed on bamboo jackpoles back before Purse-seiners took over the tuna fleet....
