I find it funny (in a bad way) that they feel this needs to be stated, after all, it's a citeable offense to continue fishing for any species fish once your limit is reached. I thankfully can't say that I see this going on, as I see fishermen where I fish aware of the limits and regulations. But yes, WSB appear to be a species fairly susceptible to over fishing. The MLPA/MPAs I'm sure will provide ample protections for the WSB, but little to none for their ever so important prey, water quality... And I am sure the research will shed light on any needed new management of the resource.

I agree most recreational fishermen know the laws and don't break the current regulations. When WSB fishing gets WFO it can be really easy to catch them. I have been lucky enough to see wfo wsb a few times, and paddling away took a lot of will power. Its pretty easy to say "I will just catch one more and release it..."

I think culling and/or catching and releasing wsb happens more often than most realize... my interpretation of the rules is that once you wind in three fish you have reached your limit, regardless of whether you choose to release any of them. I'm sure there are other interpretations. There is nothing funny about their statement. The fact is that there are many poachers, greedy people, and people just wanting to increase their post/ fish count.

Thanks for the WSB instructive link, is so easy to destroy nature only for lack of knowledge.:)
