Battery question

6v or 12v? also do i need a battery box for it? or can i just install it into my crate?

what are you using the battery for? fish finder or bait tank? fish finder has to be 12v, bait tank you can use both but would recommend 6v due to less water pressure.
i use a dry bag for my battery when i hook up my connections. it works better for me since it is less bulky.

I too am finding the dry bags are working better for me also.

There have been lots of posts on this subject over the years. Use the search feature and you may not have to reinvent the wheel.

One of the commonly used solutions is a waterproof plastic box that you can get from Wal-mart for about $8. Drill a hole in the box for the wires and seal it with goop. Install a quick release plug to the wires from the box and also to the internal wiring for the FF and/or tank. Strap the box to some place in your kayak, (it could be on your crate). Plug the wires together and you are good to go.

To make life easier at home, get another set of quick release plugs for your charger. I use two wire trailer light plugs. A fancier solution is the waterproof plug used on the Hobie bait tank which probably works better but costs four times as much.
