Public's Help Sought in Identifying Body of Kayaker Found Near Port of Long Beach

Authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying the body of a man who was found floating in the ocean near the Port of Long Beach nearly a month ago.
The man, who was kayaking before his death, was spotted on September 6 at about 7:30AM said Chief Craig Harvey of the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner. Harvey described the man, who was "not visually identifiable," as white, about 55 years of age or older, six feet tall and weighing 187 pounds. He was balding with gray hair and was missing a right upper incisor. He also had no tattoos or scars.
At the time of his discovery, the man was wearing gray shorts with a blue stripe, a cloth belt, gray briefs, a blue "Under Armour" shirt in a size medium, a yellow metal rope-type necklace with an "S" charm and a white metal Casio wristwatch with a black band. He was also carrying a set of keys to a General Motors vehicle.
Anyone with information about this man is urged to call coroner's investigator Daniel Machian at 323-343-0754. Additional reporting by City News Service.
