What is the best method for pulling the nets?

In my old kayak I would just pull directly up but the kayak had a width of 28". The pa is much wider so I feel I will need to lean over too much? Or do you just pull against the rail?

I've seen the scotty trap ease but not sure where to mount for maximum sturdiness.
