I feel some kind of scented attractant helps whether it is a gulp bait, Hot Sauce (one of my favorites) or Uni Butter. The good thing about Uni Butter is that it is made local here in San Diego and works. So you are supporting a local business, plus the local shops carry it including OEX. . I use them both and have both in mine and my wife's tackle box.
Uni Butter is great for the local waters since it is made with local sea urchin.
