What type of drill bits are best to drill through the hull of a kayak? Thanks.

A very sharp drill would work best.

Are your installing a thru-hull transducer?

I glued my transducer to the hull with silicone and i am running the cord through the hull.

Regular twist drill bits work fine for smaller holes and spade bits (speedbore) work great for bigger holes for me.

Sometimes they don't even need to be super-sharp! It's plastic!

I use regular wood bits for smaller screw/bolt holes, but I'll use a step-bit for bigger holes.

Depending on the hole size, the holesaw bits are good too.

I used a clam clamp with a holesaw for mounting wires through the hull.

anything that can drill a hole the size that you want it is something that would work. i use all types of drill bits and reamers. i also purchase rubber stoppers from lowes or home depot to plug up some of the larger holes that i drill (transducer + power cable for FF). just make sure to measure it out as much as possible to avoid drilling an unwanted hole.
