Im in Carlsbad and would want to go out for Threshers with you but i dont think I have the right gear. My stuff is just good enough for LJ but from what Ive read a decent Thresher would rip my gear to shreads.
you reached up to adjust your hat and stopped paddling. ... that killed you. raise your paddle over the wave and when it hits you, paddle like hell to get out of the white water. otherwise you get sucked back with it and either go ALLLL the way back in or flip.

as long as you have a good drag that not sticky and will accommodate 12-14lbs you should be good. your arms will be tired though.
