Your just going to have to find out what works best for you. I guess there is no one right way of doing it, it's going to be your way. Between me and the rest of the "sewer" guys, we all fish differently, different hooks, rods, reels, single hooks, treble hooks, line, rigs, trap hooks...but we all manage to catch our share of fish.

Sometimes I trap rig behind the dorsal fin, and sometimes behind the anus. I think it depends on the bait and my mood but it seems like there is not one perfect or correct method. Crazy enough sometimes I won't even run a trap rig at all.
