That sounds like a hell of a deal
Inspect the drive well (the area the mirage drive plugs into) This has been a failure point on that era Outback. Check for little cracks. The boat is no longer covered by the factory warranty, so be very thorough. Failure in the pedal drive in uncommon provided you take decent care of them. Rinse them off after every use. Look for rust at the connection points of the cables on the drives. As far as replacing the mirage drive, you can usually just replace the specific parts and save some cash. But if you have to replace the entire unit.....its about $460 for a new one. But like I said, $600 sounds like a steal, most go for over $1000 I'm not sure where you live or where the boat is located, but you are more than welcome to bring it by the shop and I'll take a look at it and give you my honest opinion.
